Our Mission Story
Who We Are
It all started with a walk on the beach. A simple walk, bare feet in the sand, sun high above, and the sound of waves crashing gently along the shore of Isabela. But something was off. Scattered bottles, plastic wrappers, and broken glass disrupted the beauty of the coast. Just a few feet away, a stray dog, limping through the sand, its eyes tired, its ribs visible. That moment sparked a vision.
The founders of Perros Playas Limpiezas, Jose Joaquin Gil de la Madrid, Carlos Umpierre, Francisco Viejo, and Enrique Villavicencio, weren’t wealthy philanthropists or famous influencers, they were just passionate students with extraordinary hearts. They believed no beach should suffer from pollution, and no dog should be left behind.
At first, it was just a few volunteers with gloves and garbage bags, walking along the shorelines of Puerto Rico, picking up trash and offering food and water to stray dogs. Every weekend, more hands joined. Then came donations. Then came partnerships. What began as a small act of kindness became a growing movement, one where the love for nature and animals collided to form something beautiful.
Today, Perros Playas Limpiezas is more than just beach cleanups. It’s a symbol of hope. With every beach restored, and every dog rescued, the community is reminded of the power of compassion and unity. Educational programs in schools teach the next generation to protect the planet and care for all creatures. Adoption events give abandoned dogs new homes. And beach cleanup drives have become joyful celebrations of service, music, and community.
But the journey doesn’t end here.
The future of Perros Playas Limpiezas is bright. Plans are underway to build a dedicated sanctuary near the coast, where injured or abandoned dogs can heal, where volunteers can gather, and where eco-initiatives can flourish. The dream is to expand across the Caribbean, inspiring other islands to follow suit. One pawprint, one footprint, one plastic bottle at a time.
Because when people come together for a shared purpose, whether it's a cleaner beach or a rescued pup, real change begins.

Dogs
Our work involves rescuing and taking care of stray dogs found on beaches, providing them with food, shelter, and medical care until we find them loving homes.
Cleanups
We conduct regular beach cleanups to remove plastic waste and protect marine life. Our efforts aim to raise awareness and inspire positive environmental changes.
